Infant Probiotic
infant probiotic (Bifidobacterium lactis) approval in the U.S.?
I heard that the FDA has finally approved by the drug is sold without recipe here in the U.S. But I can not find where on the website: http://www.fda.gov which provides that. It also has the American Academy of Pediatrics finally approve use of probiotics for children? I have heard so, but I need the evidence to prove my PED. Note that effort, both on the web site and FDA.gov aap.org. Can not find any information. No items in the stores! But unfortunately, the city we live is not updated. I need for my brothers to buy and send me out of state. But I'm still undecided I want to see more evidence of approval. I meant: there are products in the stores I've talked to my DCs, and up to 2 DCs in this area (city pop: 80K: not as updated) and the three hesitate anymore and also want to see evidence of approval, before recommending probiotics.
The reason you will not find any information about probiotics in general, the FDA's website is because not have to be approved by the FDA as dietary supplements and herbal supplements. Unless the manufacturer of probiotic culture's claims to cure disease or whether probiotics is hurting people of the FDA will not participate. I could not find current resources on the safety of probiotics in children. However, this study last year states that probiotics are safe for children. You can read about the study …. http://www.jpgn.org/pt/re/jpgn/fulltext.00005176-200610000-00027.htm; jsessionid = LyYV141yJdQ7QDW5ngxXnP050km2wt5GPV1Tq0226lnhz1X7JXs1! 851,130,288! 181,195,628! 8091! -1 Index = 1 & base = ppvovft and results = 1 & count = 10 & searchid = 2 & NAV = # search P58
